Men's Soccer Defeats Olivet 1-0
(9/11/2009 6:06:16 PM) M Soccer Mitchell Brent nets game winnerThe Northwood University men's soccer team posted its third straight victory Friday afternoon (September 11), defeating Olivet 1-0.
Northwood is now 3-1 overall, while Olivet falls to 1-2 on the season.
The game was scoreless at the break despite the Timberwolves controlling play. NU out-shot the Comets 9-1 in the opening half.
The second half proved to be similar to the first, as Northwood finished with a 17-5 edge in shots after the break. Northwood finally broke through in the 85th minute, as Mitchell Brent (Milton Keynes, England) scored his first career goal off a feed from Keith Lough (Edinburgh, Scotland).
William Eberhardt (Depew, N.Y./Lancaster) made three saves for his second straight shutout and fifth of his career.
Overall for the match, Northwood finished with a 26-6 edge in shots. Both teams finished with three corners.
Northwood will host Saginaw Valley State Sunday (September 13) at 2:30 p.m.
