Game one saw Charleston open up a 1-0 lead in the first inning. UC starting pitcher Josh Weingberg was the story early, holding Northwood without a hit over the first five innings. But he was pulled heading into the sixth inning, after which the NU offense got going. The Timberwolves plated three runs on four hits and got RBI hits from Anthony Dipaolo (Northville, Mich./Divine Child) and Wayne Moak (Marysville, Mich). Junior Andrew Joseph (Sylvania, Ohio/Owens CC) got the win in his first career start. He allowed one run on four hits while striking out four.
A day after Northwood rallied from a five-run deficit, the Timberwolves gave up a five run lead in game two. Northwood got RBI hits from Zac Zoellner (Traverse City, Mich./Central) and Cody Rogers (Saginaw, Mich./Swan Valley) in the first two innings to go up 2-0. The Timberwolves then made it 5-0 in the fourth thanks to RBI's by Rogers and Zyke Bailey (Taylor, Mich./H.S. Truman). But Charleston responded with a four-run fourth inning, of which three of the runs scored on a home run. UC then plated two in the fifth to go up 6-5, but Northwood responded with an unearned run in the sixth to tie the game once again. Charleston responded one final time with a run in the sixth to take the lead back once again 7-6. Northwood went 1-2-3 in the bottom of the seventh, giving the win to UC. Zoellner led the Northwood offense with a hit and two doubles.
