Baseball Loses 14-3 Contest To Saginaw Valley State

The Northwood University baseball team dropped a 14-3 contest to rival Saginaw Valley State Friday afternoon (May 3).

The game was a makeup contest from earlier this season.  Northwood falls to 16-24 overall, 11-17 in the GLIAC.  SVSU improves to 14-21 overall, 12-13 in the GLIAC.

The Cardinals took control of the game early, scoring three runs in the first two innings. SVSU then added three in the fifth, two in the sixth and four more in the seventh to put the game out of reach.  Saginaw Valley State had 19 hits in the contest and Northwood committed six errors on defense.

Leading the way for Northwood was Dustin Lee (Mt. Pleasant, Mich.).  He had three hits in the contest.  Tyler Beatty (Clare, Mich./Davenport) added a two-run triple.

Northwood finishes its regular season with a three-game series at Lake Erie.  The two teams will play a doubleheader Saturday (May 4) beginning at 2 p.m.
