DALLAS – Max Bain, a senior pitcher on the Northwood University baseball team, has been named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II National Pitcher of the Week.
He is the first pitcher in school history to earn a national weekly award from the NCBWA.
Bain made Northwood history Saturday (April 6), tossing a no-hitter in Northwood's 4-0 win over Parkside. The senior from Clarkston, Michigan struck out nine while walking three in seven innings of work. Bain has now allowed one run and five hits while striking out 17 over his last 13 innings. Bain now stands with a 5-0 record on the season. He is the first Northwood pitcher to throw a no-hitter since Mike Quibell in 1986.
Northwood will host Saginaw Valley for a four game series starting Friday (April 12) at 3 p.m.
