MIDLAND, MICH. - The Northwood University men's soccer team recorded its ninth shutout of the season with a 4-0 win over Findlay on Sunday afternoon (October 26).
The Timberwolves improve to 11-3-1 on the year, 9-3-1 in the GLIAC. The Oilers fall to 4-12 on the year, 3-10 in the GLIAC.
Following the season's method of operation, NU was able to net the first goal of the match at 15:06. Adam Thomas (High Wycombe, England / John Hampden) finished a rebounded shot just outside six yards for his fourth goal of the season. Shortly thereafter, junior Keaton Levock (Clinton Twp., Mich. / Chippewa Valley) lofted a beautiful shot over the keeper from around 20 yards out. The Timberwolves took a 2-0 advantage into halftime.
In the 49th minute, Levock placed another shot directly past the keeper from more than 30 yards away to put NU ahead 3-0. Northwood earned a penalty kick in the 83rd minute for the final goal of the match.
For the match, NU's offense was dominant holding a 22-11 advantage in shots and 13-6 in corner kicks. Findlay's keepers registered 11 saves on the day, as Northwood's Johannes Sterobo (Odense, Denmark / Tornbjerg) recorded his ninth shutout on the year.
