The Northwood University men's and women's tennis teams each earned bids to the NCAA Tournament Tuesday night (April 29).
There are eight regions in both tournaments, with two schools hosting events in each region. The teams that win each sub-regional will qualify for the round of 16, which will take place in Altamonte Springs, Florida May 14-17.
On the women's side, Northwood (21-0) is seeded second in the Midwest and will host the opening two rounds of the tournament. NU will open the event with a match against GLIAC rival Tiffin (20-7). The winner of that match will play either No. 3 seed Wayne State (23-4) or No. 6 seed Missouri-St. Louis (17-6) in the second round. Those contests will be held at Northwood on Monday and Tuesday (May 5-6). In the case of inclement weather, the matches will take place indoors at the Midland Community Tennis Center.
The men's team (17-3) is the No. 3 seed in the Midwest. The Timberwolves will open up the tournament with a match against No. 6 seed McKendree (17-6). The winner of that match will face either No. 2 Indianapolis (15-3) or No. 7 Missouri-St. Louis (11-7) in the second round. Those matches will take Saturday and Sunday (May 3-4)
