HILLSDALE, MICH. - The Northwood University indoor track and field teams competed in the Hillsdale "Wide Track" Classic on Friday and Saturday (February 6 and 7).
Leading the way for the Timberwolves was Rayvaun Tyler (Orlando, Fla. / Oak Ridge) with a third place finish in the 60 meter dash with a final time of 7.04. Marcus Johnson (Center, Tx. / Center (NU-Texas)) ran a 7.15 in the finals for a sixth place finish. Johnson also finished sixth in the 200 meter dash at 22.91, while Mike Ankoviak(West Bloomfield, Mich. / Walled Lake Northern) ran 23.03 - good for eighth. Jeremy Wilchcombe (Freeport, Bahamas / St. Georges(NU-TX)) jumped a 14.40 in the triple jump to place sixth. His jump is also an NCAA provisional qualifying mark. Junior Wally Clay (Grand Blanc, Mich. / Flint Southwestern) clocked a 50.33 to place eighth in the 400 meter dash.
On the women's side, Claudia Coleman (Keller,Tx / Fossil Ridge (NU-Texas)) took fifth with a time of 25.97 in the 200 meter dash. Darci Asel-Templin (Essexville, Mich. / Garber) took eighth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:02.22, while Valencia Lynch (Flint, Mich. / Carman-Ainsworth) finished right behind at 1:02.28.
The Timberwolves will compete in the GVSU Big Meet next weekend (February 13 and 14).
