ALLENDALE, MICH. - The Northwood University indoor track and field teams traveled to Grand Valley State University for the GVSU Big Meet on Friday (February 13) and Saturday (February 14).
Nine Timberwolves qualified and competed in the Friday meet. Junior Jeremy Wilchcombe (Freeport, Bahamas / St. Georges (NU-TX)) earned a third place finish in the men's triple jump invite. His mark of 14.22 meters (46'08.00) also earns him the third best jump in Northwood history. Wilchcombe currently owns the NU triple jump record at 47'2.14, which wasa set earlier this season.
Also competing for the Timberwolves on Friday were: Claudia Coleman (Keller, Tx. / Fossil Ridge (NU-Texas), Jenny Frantz (Ovid, Mich. / Ovid-Elsie), Chloe Theil (Plainwell, Mich.), Wally Clay (Grand Blanc, Mich. / Flint Southwestern), Tyler Jensen (Ovid, Mich. / Ovid-Elsie), Will Moench (Holland, Mich. / West Ottawa), Matt Dippel (Kentwood, Mich. / East Kintwood) and Kyle Vandersyde (Hopkins, Mich.).
The men's 4x400 meter relay team of Marcus Johnson (Center, Tx. / Center (NU-Texas)), Tray Thompson (Fort Worth, Tx. / Duncanville (NU-Texas)), Karmine Jarmon (Chicago, Ill. / Simeon) and Wally Clay (Grand Blanc, Mich. / Flint Southwestern) ran an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 3:17.48 while taking first place.
Also making his way onto the Northwood all-time performance list was sophomore Rayvaun Tyler (Orlando, Fla. / Oak Ridge) with a 60 meter dash time of 6.96 on Saturday – good for a fourth place finish. His time is now the seventh fastest in school history.
The Timberwolves travel to the Hillsdale Tune Up meet next weekend (February 21) before competing in the GLIAC Championships starting February 28.
