Zac Ball Named Assistant Track & Field Coach

The Northwood University track and field programs have announced the hiring of Zac Ball as the throws coach.

“I am beyond excited to have Zac joining our coaching staff and starting is coaching career here at Northwood,” said Jamie Moreno, Northwood Head Track & Field coach. “He was a tremendous collegiate thrower and I am counting on him to bring what he has learned at Ashland to help elevate the level and success of our throwers. His knowledge, passion for the sport and excitement to start his coaching career was obvious.”

Ball had a distinguished career at Ashland University where he was a six-time All-American in the hammer and weight throw. The 2014 Indoor GLIAC Champion in the weight throw, Ball earned GLIAC Athlete of the week three times in his career. He was also named National Athlete of the Week in January of 2015.

A native of Amherst, Ohio, Ball earned a bachelor’s of science degree with a focus on exercise science and minors in religion and coaching from Ashland in 2015.

"I am excited to start my coaching career at Northwood University. They have a great history of success and are a great program. I am looking forward to getting started and seeing where the year will take us. I’d like to thank Coach Moreno, as well as the Athletic Director Dave Marsh for giving me this amazing opportunity.”
