RECAP: Softball drops a pair of GLIAC games to Tiffin in the regular season finale Sunday (April 29), losing game one 8-5 and game two 3-2.


  • Tiffin got on the board in the top of the first and did not look back. The Dragons got the early 2-0 lead.
  • The Dragons then added six runs in the second inning to go up 8-0 before Northwood was able to get on the board.
  • Northwood broke through in the third inning with three of their own runs to cut Tiffin's lead 8-3. With runners on first and second, Abby Joseph hit a two-run double, followed by a Sydni Culps RBI single.
  • The Timberwolves continued to cut into the Dragons lead and added a pair of runs to make it 8-5 in the fifth. Culps singled to lead off the inning and advanced to third on a Meghan Franz walk and Julia gross's fly out. Tara Gross knocked Culps in on an RBI single.
  • With the bases loaded, Sydni Pauley was walked to pick up an RBI.
  • The Timberwolves kept Tiffin's offense at bay, but could not rally in the final two innings of the game and dropping game one 8-5.

  • Tiffin wasted no time and plated two runs in the first inning for the early lead over Northwood.
  • In the second inning, Joseph and Culps each registered singles to put two runs on. Chase Schultz reached first safely on an error by the third baseman to advance all runners and loading the bases. With two outs, J. Gross hit a two-run RBI single to make it a tie ball game at 2-2.
  • The game remained quite until the seventh inning, when Tiffin recorded an run-scoring RBI to get the 3-2 lead over Northwood and the eventual game winning run.
  • The Timberwolves had the game tying run at second, but could not rally to give Tiffin the doubleheader sweep.

  • Northwood will play in the GLIAC Softball Tournament Friday-Sunday (May 4-6) at Sports Force Parks in Sandusky, Ohio as the No. 7 seed. The Timberwolves will play No. 2 Davenport in Game 4 starting at 12:30 p.m.
