Saginaw Valley State Cardinals 1, Northwood Timberwolves 0
RECORDS: Saginaw Valley (7-1-1, 3-0 GLIAC), Northwood (2-6, 1-2 GLIAC)
LOCATION: Dean Field - Midland, Mich.
RECAP: Northwood can't break through in close defeat to rival Saginaw Valley (September 28).

  • Northwood was the better team for the majority of the first have, having more of the possession and chances. NU had a couple of good opportunities for the early lead but were kept off the board.
  • Following the Timberwolves' chance, Saginaw Valley was able to capitalize themselves in the 37th minute. Picking up a pass at the top of the box, the Cardinals forward was able to sneak a shot to the bottom left corner of the net past a diving Bridget Adams to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. That was one of just three shots in the half for SVSU, compared to six for the Timberwolves.
  • That goal proved to be the only score of the contest, as neither team could find the back of the net after the break.

  • SHOTS: Saginaw Valley 12, Northwood 11
  • SAVES: Saginaw Valley 6 (Alyssa Watts), Northwood 5 (Adams)

  • The Timberwolves will host to Ashland Sunday for a matchup against the Eagles (Sept. 30). Game time is set for 12 p.m.
