Volleyball Ranked Second In First Midwest Regional Rankings

The Northwood University women's volleyball team has been ranked second in the Midwest Region in the inaugural poll of the 2012 season, which was released Wednesday afternoon (October 31).

The top eight teams in each region will qualify for the NCAA Tournament, with the top overall seed earning the right to host each regional event.

Northwood, which is currently 19-5 overall (14-3 in the Midwest Region), trails only Indianapolis (24-3 overall, 19-2 in the region).  Northwood is ahead of four GLIAC schools - Ferris State, Hillsdale, Grand Valley State, Ashland, who currently rank third through sixth.

The Timberwolves are currently 14-0 in GLIAC play and have a two-match lead over second place Ferris State (12-2) with four to matches left to play.

Northwood will travel to Michigan Tech Friday night (November 2) for a 7 p.m. match.
