Volleyball Claims 3-0 Win Over Lake Erie

The Northwood University volleyball team posted a 3-0 win over Lake Erie Saturday afternoon (October 19). Set scores were 25-14, 25-14, 25-17.

Northwood is now 13-6 overall, 8-3 in the GLIAC.  Lake Erie falls to 1-16 overall, 1-10 in the GLIAC

After a few points went back and forth early in the first set, the Timberwolves took control to earn the lead.  An 8-2 run put the Timberwolves up 16-10, which was followed by 7-0 run at the end of the set to make the final score 25-14.  Northwood hit .429 in the set (13-4-21) while holding Lake Erie to a .107 mark (8-5-28).

The second set proved to be similar to the first.  NU held a 5-4 lead early on, but the Timberwolves went on to score 14 of the next 19 points to take control.  Northwood hit .440 in the set (14-3-25) while Lake Erie finished at .000 (7-7-27).

Northwood sat many of their regulars in the third set, but still came away with the win.  NU was tied at 14 but scored 11 of the last 14 points to earn the win. The Timberwolves hit .310 (13-4-29) while LEC finished at .043 (8-7-23).

For the match, Northwood hit .387 (40-11-75) while holding Lake Erie to a .051 clip (23-19-78).

The balanced Northwood attack featured three players with eight kills – Kristin Perschon, Juiliia Pakhomenko and Cassandra Marsh.

Northwood will travel to the GLIAC/GLVC Crossover next weekend.
