Emily Lucas Named Assistant Volleyball Coach

MIDLAND, MICH. – Emily Lucas has been named assistant volleyball coach at Northwood University by new head coach David Shumaker.

Lucas comes to Northwood after a pair of successful season as a graduate assistant at Arkansas Tech. She was a part of a program that won two straight Great American Conference championships. The Golden Suns had two GAC Freshmen of the Year, two Setters of the Year and five First Team All-Conference performers in two seasons. Lucas worked for Kristy Bayer, who was named GAC Coach of the Year both seasons.

A 2012 graduate of UMKC, Lucas was a four-year letter winner for the Kangaroos. She earned First Team All-Summit League honors in 2012, when she ranked fourth in the league in kills (406) and kills per set (3.69).  Lucas was named to the All-Tournament team at the Summit League tournament in 2012 as well as the All-Tournament team at the North Texas Invitational (2012) and the Black Knights Invitational (2011). Lucas also earned a letter in track & field while at UMKC, taking part in sprints, relays and jumps.

Lucas earned her degree in Liberal Arts from UMKC in December of 2012. She will be finishing her Master's Degree in Strength & Conditioning in May of 2016.
