D1 Hockey Shines With Two Big Victories Against John Carroll

RECAP: The Division 1 hockey team had two wins over the weekend against John Carroll University, with a 7-2 home win on Friday night (December 5) and a 6-0 home win on Saturday afternoon (November 6). 

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS  

  • The first period ended scoreless, with Northwood holding a ten-to-nine shot advantage. 

  • Early in the second period, Cameron Duffany put Northwood ahead 1-0 on a power play, assisted by Jacob McLellan and Owen Croston. Croston made it 2-0 with help from Duffany and Alex Bedenko. John Carroll cut the lead to 2-1, but Northwood answered with goals from Bedenko, assisted by Zachary McCarthy and Duffany, and Duffany, set up by Croston and McLellan, to take a 4-1 lead into the break. 

  • John Carroll scored early in the third period to make it 4-2, but Northwood sealed the win with two goals from Bryce Garber and another from McLellan. Garber's power-play goal was assisted by Robert Vanderdonck and Bedenko, and his second by Milos Todorovic and Donald Gooley. McLellan's tally came off feeds from Trevor Stenglein and Vanderdonck as Northwood closed out a 7-2 victory.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS  

  • Northwood struck in the opening minute, taking a 1–0 lead on Bedenko's goal set up by Lukas Nies and Colin March. 

  • Northwood put the game away with four goals in the third period, securing a 6–0 victory. Baker, assisted by Adam Moule and Bedenko, Vanderdonck, assisted by Gooley and March, Gooley, assisted by Garber and Jack Rivera, and Duffany, assisted by Croston and McLellan, all found the net.
