RECAP: The Division 3 hockey team swept Grand Valley over the weekend, earning a 2-1 road win on Friday night (October 10) followed by a 2-1 victory at home on Saturday evening (October 11). 

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS 

  • The Lakers opened the scoring early, finding the net within the first five minutes to take a 1-0 lead. 

  • The score remained level through the rest of regulation, sending the game overtime. There, Carter Kemp set up Connor Stempky for the game-winner, giving the Timberwolves a 2-1 victory.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS 

  • The game started quietly, with no goals scored in the first period. 

  • Northwood broke the deadlock ten minutes into the second period when Noah Pearen found the back of the net, assisted by Cade Sanborn and Ryan Zwick, giving the Timberwolves a 1-0 lead. The Lakers responded five minutes later with a power-play goal to even the score at 1-1. 

  • With just three minutes remaining in regulation, Konnor White scored the game-winning goal for Northwood, assisted by Aidan French, securing a 2-1 victory. 

  • Goaltender Schultz had another strong performance, stopping forty of the forty-one shots he faced.
