RECAP: The Division 3 hockey team lost both games against Calvin over the weekend, falling 4-2 away on Friday (October 24) followed by a 1-0 loss at home on Saturday (October 25). 

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS 

  • Northwood took an early 1-0 lead in the first period with a goal from Noah Pearen. Calvin responded later in the period with an equalizer to make it 1-1. 

  • Early in the second period, the Knights went ahead 2-1, while the Timberwolves were unable to find the back of the net. 

  • Calvin extended their lead in the third period with two quick goals, pushing the score to 4-1. A late goal from Connor Stempky, assisted by Evan Kennedy and Boston Bennett, brought Northwood closer, but it wasn't enough, as the game ended 4-2 in favor of Calvin.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS 

  • Calvin came out strong to start the game, firing fourteen shots on Schultz, but the Northwood goaltender stood tall to keep the game scoreless. The Timberwolves, meanwhile, were unable to capitalize on any of their five first period shots. 

  • The second period followed a similar pattern, with Schultz stopping all fifteen shots he faced while Northwood couldn't convert on their six attempts. 

  • Midway through the third period, the Knights finally broke through to take a 1-0 lead. Northwood pushed hard with eleven shots in the final period, but Calvin held firm to secure the 1-0 victory.
