D3 Hockey Tops Saint Vincent in ACHA National Championship Game Three but Eliminated from Tournament

OVERVIEW – ACHA National Championship Game Three 

SCORE: Northwood Timberwolves 5, Saint Vincent Bearcats 3 

RECORDS: Northwood (20-8-0-2, 7-3-0-0 MCHC (MI) East), Saint Vincent (19-8-0-0, 12-2-0-0 CHE) 

LOCATION: USA Arena-CCIC – St. Louis, Missouri 

RECAP: The Division 3 hockey team won 5-3 against Saint Vincent on Friday afternoon (March 20) in their final game of the ACHA National Championship, but finished third in pool play and was eliminated from the tournament to end their season.  

ACHA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME THREE HIGHLIGHTS 

  • Northwood jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first period, as Evan Kennedy and Connor Stempky set up Boston Bennett. The Timberwolves continued to build momentum, adding three more goals to take a 4-0 lead into the first intermission. Konnor White scored on the power play off assists from Cade Sanborn and Noah Pearen, while Sanborn added one of his own from assists by Pearen and Ryan Zwick. Colton Larose capped off the first period scoring with Northwood's fourth. 

  • Saint Vincent responded early in the second period with two goals to cut the deficit to 4-2 heading into the second intermission. 

  • White netted his second of the night early in the third period, extending Northwood's lead to 5-2 with assists from Carter Temple and Luke Ciciretto. The Bearcats added a late goal, but Northwood held on to secure a 5-3 victory.
