Travis Smith Named First Team All-Region By The ABCA

MIDLAND, MICH. – Junior Travis Smith (Clare, Mich.), a designated hitter from the Northwood University baseball team has earned First Team All-Region from the American Baseball Coaches Association.
The teams are voted on by the coaches around the Great Lakes Region.
Smith was one of main threats from the Northwood offense this season. He finished the year with a .375 average with three home runs and 23 RBIs in 35 games played. He had eight doubles while finishing with a .552 slugging and a .474 on-base percentage.
He is the first player to earn All-Region honors for Northwood since 2005, when Matt Shields and D.J. Hughes each were named Second Team All-Region. The last First Team All-Region performer for Northwood was outfielder David Lamky in 2004.
