Baseball Places Five On All-Great Midwest Tournament Team - Josh Getz Named Tournament MVP

MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University baseball team placed a total of five players on the All-Tournament Team for the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC), the league announced Monday (May 12).

Junior second baseman Josh Getz was named Tournament MVP. He was joined on the all-tournament team by senior starting pitcher Trevor Crawford, junior outfielder Caden Duryea, junior relief pitcher Dominic Mauro and senior relief pitcher Danny Witbeck.

Getz hit .467 with a home run and six RBIs for the Timberwolves over the four games of the tournament. He finished the week with a .529 on-base percentage and a .667 slugging percentage. Getz connected on a three-run home run in Northwood's 9-3 win over Ohio Dominican in the championship game.

Crawford was outstanding for Northwood against Hillsdale in game two of the tournament, going 7 1/3 innings. He allowed one run on one hit, allowing three walks and five strikeouts. The Timberwolves took that game 2-1 in 12 innings.

Duryea hit .400 to go with a .500 on-base percentage and a .533 slugging percentage from right field. He drove in three runs and scored three runs while finishing with two doubles.

Mauro was dominant out of the bullpen in two appearances for the Timberwolves, finishing with a 0.00 ERA over four innings. He struck out five while allowing three hits and one walk. He picked up a save in Northwood's 7-3 victory over Tiffin to open the tournament.

Witbeck picked up a win and a save in his two relief appearances for Northwood. He allowed two runs in five innings of work, giving up two hits and zero walks to go with five strikeouts. In Northwood's 12-2 victory over Hillsdale in the third game of the event, Witbeck tossed three hitless innings while striking out two.

Northwood took home its second G-MAC Tournament title in three years. The Timberwolves will compete in the NCAA Tournament starting Thursday (May 15) against Lewis. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
