RECAP: Northwood baseball splits its fourth straight doubleheader to open conference play, downing Thomas More 2-1 in game one before falling 4-2 in the nightcap.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS (SCHEDUELED SEVEN INNINGS)

• Thomas More opened the scoring in the first on a sacrifice fly to go up 1-0.
• The score remained 1-0 into the fifth inning. Northwood leveled the score on their first hit of the game, an RBI single from Connor McCartan that plated Brendan Hammer and made the score 1-1.
• The score remained tied through the end of the seventh, sending the game to extra innings.
• After Northwood held TMU off the board in the top of the eighth, Josh Getz drove home the winning run on an RBI single down the left field line to give Northwood the 2-1 victory.

• After game one went to extra innings, game two was changed to a seven-inning contest.
• The key play of the game came with two outs in the top of the first inning. With the bases loaded, the Saints plated three runs on a single with an error to go up 3-0.
• Northwood got one back in the second on an RBI single from Brennan Hallman.
• TMU got one back in the fifth to go up 4-1.
• Mason Brunworth cut the Saints lead down to 4-2 in the seventh on an RBI double, but Northwood was unable to add on, giving the victory to Thomas More.
