RECAP: A late rally in game one propelled Northwood baseball to a pair of wins at Tiffin Sunday (April 12), taking game one 9-2 and game two 19-9.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS (SEVEN INNINGS)

  • Tiffin one in the bottom of the first to go up 1-0.
  • The score remained 1-0 into the fifth when the Dragons added another run to go up 2-0.
  • After losing both games yesterday while scoring five runs total, the Timberwolves were down 2-0 with one out in the final inning when the offense came alive, starting with a Bobby Griffon two-run double to tie the score.
  • Payton Guilbeaux put the Timberwolves on top with an RBI on a bunt to make the score 3-2.
  • Brennan Hallman then followed with a two-run double, which was then followed by an RBI single from Brendan Hammer to make the score 6-2.
  • Connor McCartan rounded out the big inning with at three-run home run to make the final 9-2.

  • Northwood kept the momentum going early in game two, starting with a run on an error by Tiffin in the top of the first.
  • Caden Duryea made the score 2-0 with an RBI double.
  • McCartan made it a three-run first inning on an RBI single.
  • Duryea extended the lead in the third with a three-run homer to make the score 6-0.
  • Hallman and Hammer each had sacrifice flies in the fourth to push the lead to 8-0.
  • Another Tiffin error brought home a run for Northwood in the inning, which was followed by a Evan Kavalick two-run single that made the score 11-0 in the fourth.
  • The Dragons got on the board with an RBI single in the bottom of the inning.
  • Hammer got that run right back for Northwood with an RBI double in the top of the fifth.
  • After a TU home run in the bottom of the fifth made the score 12-2, Griffon had an RBI double in the top of the sixth.
  • Tiffin rallied back in the sixth by scoring six runs to get within five at 13-8.
  • Northwood came right back with a big inning of their own, starting with a sac fly from Duryea.
  • After a throwing error by the Dragons made the score 15-8, Kavalick brought home two more with single.
  • The Dragons hit a home run in the bottom of the seventh that cut the NU lead to 17-9.
  • McCartan rounded out the scoring with a two-run homer in the ninth that made the final 19-9.
