RECAP: Northwood baseball sees its 2026 season come to an end by going 1-1 at the Great Midwest Tournament Thursday (May 7), earning a 3-2 win against Walsh before falling to Hillsdale 7-2.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS – VS. WALSH
- The game was scoreless into the third inning before a Brendan Hammer RBI single put the Timberwolves on top 1-0.
- Walsh responded with a run in the bottom of the inning to send the game to the fourth with the score tied 1-1.
- Northwood went back on top in the fourth thanks to a solo home run by Ben DeVries to go up 2-1.
- The Timberwolves earned an insurance run in the seventh thanks to an RBI double from Evan Larson.
- The Cavaliers did get a run in the ninth to get within one before Northwood closed out the victory.

- Northwood got the scoring going in the second inning. After a Connor McCartan double, Evan Kavalick drove him home on a long RBI triple to centerfield.
- Josh Getz made the score 2-0 on a sacrifice fly that brought home Kavalick.
- Hillsdale put together a big response in the top of the third, using six singles, a walk and two hit batters to plate six runs for a four-run lead.
- The Chargers added a run on a two-out bloop single in the top of the eighth to push their lead to 7-2.
- Northwood had chances to add to their totals throughout the game, putting at least one base runner on in eight of the nine innings but were only able to plate the two runs in the second.
