Esports: Northwood Captures Five National Titles at NECC Championships and ECAC Founders Invitational

MIDLAND, MICH. – Northwood University Esports delivered a historic performance on the national stage from May 14-17, competing in San Antonio, Texas, at the National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) National Championships. Northwood's Overwatch, Rocket League, Valorant, League of Legends, and Smash Bros teams each battled through fields of eight elite collegiate programs in pursuit of national titles.

The Timberwolves returned home with three NECC National Championships, as the varsity Overwatch, Rocket League, and Valorant teams each claimed championship trophies. Northwood also earned a runner-up finish in Smash Bros and a third-place finish in League of Legends, showcasing the depth and consistency of the program across multiple titles.

Additionally, Northwood's Overwatch and Valorant rosters received invitations to compete in the Eastern College Athletics Conference (ECAC) Founders Invitational, which was held at the same venue during championship weekend. The varsity Overwatch team earned a dominant 3-0 sweep over the University of Delaware to secure another title, while the varsity Valorant team defeated Pace University 2-1 to claim its second championship of the weekend.

The championship weekend marks one of the most successful stretches in program history for Northwood Esports, as the Timberwolves continued to establish themselves among the premier collegiate esports programs in the country. With five podium finishes and five championship trophies brought back to Midland, Northwood once again demonstrated its ability to compete and win at the highest level.

Following the program's success in San Antonio, Northwood Esports now looks ahead to continuing its momentum into future national competitions as the Timberwolves aim to add even more titles to an already impressive season.
