RECAP: Northwood football rides a strong performance from its defense to a 20-3 road win over Thomas More Saturday (October 12).
INSIDE THE GAME
- Northwood got on the board first late in the first quarter. The Timberwolves went 70-yards in nine plays over the span of 4:50. Quarterback Jacob Barlage found Devin Brown for a 21-yard touchdown to make the score 7-0.
- Late in the half, the Saints got on the board. TMU connected on a field goal to make the score 7-3 with 1:10 remaining in the second.
- The Timberwolves took advantage of the final possession of the half, going 56-yards in 10 plays. Max Gonos connected from 36-yards out with two seconds remaining to send the game to the break with Northwood leading 10-3.
- On their first possession of the second half, the Timberwolves put together one of the longest drives in recent memory. Starting from their own one-yard line, Northwood went 97-yards in 18 plays. Gonos made it a two-possession game with a 20-yard field goal that made the score 13-3. NU's drive took 10:19.
- Early in the fourth quarter, Northwood capped the scoring with another long drive. The Timberwolves went 75-yards in five plays. Barlage found Brendan Teal for a 57-yard touchdown that put NU on top 20-3.
- Northwood's defense held the Saints off the board over the final 31:10 of the game to give the Timberwolves their fourth win of the season.
