RECAP: Northwood football sees its four-game winning streak come to an end with a 31-16 loss to Findlay Saturday afternoon (November 1).
INSIDE THE GAME
- A big swing in the game in favor of Findlay came early. After a three-and-out on defense for Northwood, NU lost a fumble on the punt return that would have given the Timberwolves the ball in Findlay territory. The Oilers responded with a 10-play drive that covered 59-yards that was capped by a touchdown, giving Findlay a 7-0 lead.
- The score remained 7-0 until late in the second quarter. UF extended their advantage to 14-0 with 1:56 remaining in the half.
- Northwood got on the board in the final seconds of the half. Drew Cady matched his career-long with a 50-yard field goal with eight seconds remaining to send the game to the break with the Oilers leading 14-3.
- The Timberwolves made it a one-possession game at the 6:17 mark of the third quarter. Ethan Hamby found Lake Boos for an eight-yard touchdown to make the score 17-10.
- Early in the fourth quarter, UF got their advantage back up to 14 with a touchdown at the 14:53 mark.
- NU did not go away, scoring a great play by Jake Townsend. On fourth and 13, Hamby's pass was deflected a couple of times before falling into Townsend's hands for a 27-yard touchdown. The extra point was no-good to make the score 24-16.
- That was as close as Northwood would get, however, as the Oilers put the game away with 3:08 remaining with at touchdown, making the final 31-16.
