Bio
Drew Burton is in his second season as the offensive line coach as well as the run game coordinator at Northwood.
In Burton's first year with the Timberwolves, the offense made a major improvement. Northwood averaged nearly 32 more yards of offense per game. NU also increased its scoring and passing yardage from the 2022 season.
Burton brings a wide variety of coaching experience to Northwood. In 2022, Burton was the head coach at Flint Powers High School. Prior to that, Burton was the offensive line coach and run game coordinator at Saginaw Valley from 2018-21. The Cardinals had five offensive linemen earn All-Conference honors in his time at SVSU. The team ranked second in the GLIAC in scoring in 2019.
Burton was at Alma College from 2014-17 as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. The 2016 team tied the school record with 28 rushing touchdowns, while the 2015 team posted over 4,000 yards of offense.
Prior to Alma, Burton was the offensive line coach at Wisconsin-Stevens Point for four seasons. He also spent one year as the defensive line and offensive line coach at Grand Haven High School.
Burton played guard at Grand Valley State from 2003-06. He played in all 15 games for the Lakers in 2003, helping GVSU earn a national championship.
He earned his degree from Grand Valley State in 2006. Burton also earned his master’s in education from Wisconsin-Stevens Point in 2012.
