George Ricumstrict returns to Northwood as an assistant coach for the 2022 season. He will serve as the special teams coordinator as well as linebackers coach for the Timberwolves this season.

Ricumstrict has been coaching in the college ranks since 1991, when he started his career as a graduate assistant at Central Michigan. He spent two seasons at Northwood in 1993-94, serving as a coach during Head Coach Leonard Haynes’ playing career. Ricumstrict also spent time as a coach at a total of 11 different schools in his career. His final stop before coming back to Northwood was serving as the defensive tackles coach at Buffalo.

A four-year letterman at Central Michigan (1995-98), Ricumstrict was named the team Most Valuable player as a linebacker in his senior season. He had 121 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and three interceptions that year.

A native of Detroit, Ricumstrict earned his bachelor’s and master’s degree from Central Michigan. He and his wife, Sandy, have two sons: Obie and Anton.
