Men's Basketball Drops 83-75 Exhibition Contest At Northwood (FL)
The Michigan campus of Northwood University dropped an 83-75 exhibition contest in at the Florida Northwood Campus Sunday night (November 4).
The contest was the third annual President's Cup. The Florida Campus now leads the series 2-1 overall – with the home team having won all three contests.
The Michigan Campus took a 37-34 to the locker room, thanks to great shooting. The Timberwolves shot 58.6 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes (17-29).
It was the Florida Campus that got hot in the second half, as they followed the Timberwolves' lead by going 17-29 from the floor. The Seahawks also went 5-7 from 3-point range.
For the game, the Michigan Campus finished at 52.6 percent overall (30-37) compared to 49.2 percent for Florida (31-63). But the Timberwolves committed five more turnovers (16-11) and made three fewer 3-point field goals (9-6).
Five Timberwolves finished in double figures, led by Will Bowles (East Detroit, Mich./South Lake) with 16. Wes Wilcox (Roselle, Ill./Harper) added 15, while Booker Stoudmire (Ypsilanti, Mich./Belleville) added 12.
The Timberwolves will open the regular season Friday night (November 9) versus Illinois-Springfield. Game time in the neutral site matchup is set for 7:30 p.m.
