Men's Basketball Falls To No. 11 Winona State 74-67

The Northwood University men's basketball team dropped a 74-67 contest to No. 11 Winona State Saturday afternoon (November 24).

Winona State improves to 5-1 with the victory.  Northwood falls to 1-3 with the loss.

The defenses controlled the opening half of play, which led to the score being tied at 30. Winona State shot 10-29 overall (34.5 percent), compared to Northwood at 12-33 (36.4 percent).

Northwood got off to a good start in the second half, going up 42-36 with less than 16 minutes to go. The Timberwolves still led 56-55 with eight minutes remaining, but WSU went on a 12-2 run to go up nine at the 3:56 mark. Northwood got no closer than six the rest of the way.

For the game, Northwood finished at 28-66 from the floor (42.4 percent). Winona State shot 41.8 percent, making 23-55 attempts. WSU earned the win at the foul line, where they out-scored NU 24-5.

Will Bowles (East Detroit, Mich./South Lake) led the way for Northwood, finishing with 15 points and seven rebounds.

Northwood will travel to Hillsdale Thursday night (November 29). Game time is set for 6 p.m.
