Men's Basketball Claims 91-84 Victory Over Concordia-St. Paul

The Northwood University men's basketball team evened its record at 2-2 on the season with a 91-84 win over Concordia-St. Paul Saturday afternoon (November 23).

The game was played at Winona State University.

The Timberwolves played a strong opening 20 minutes, posting a 44-27 lead at halftime.  NU was the better team at both ends of the floor, shooting 50.0 percent (17-34) while holding the Concordia-St. Paul to a 25.8 percent mark (8-31). The Timberwolves also held the advantage in rebounding (21-17) while committing three fewer turnovers (6-3).

Concordia came to life in the second half to cut into the lead.  The Golden Bears scored 57 points after the break. But the Timberwolves did enough to not led Concordia to get all the way back, not allowing the Golden Bears to get any closer than nine until the final three minutes.

For the game, Northwood shot 53.3 percent from the floor (32-60) while Concordia rallied back to finish at 41.2 percent (28-68). Free throws proved to be key for the Timberwolves, as Northwood went 20-25 from the line (80 percent).

Four Timberwolves finished in double figures, led by Wes Wilcox (Roselle, Ill./Harper). He matched his career-high with 29 points going 9-15 from the floor and 9-11 from the foul line while grabbing eight rebounds. Dylan Langkabel (Morristown, Ind.) totaled 20 points, going 4-8 from 3-point range. Will Bowles (East Detroit, Mich./Southlake) his third double-double in four games this season, finishing with 13 points and 11 rebounds.  Sophomore Khalid King (Columbus, Ohio/North Carolina A&T) added 12 points while going -57 from the floor.

Northwood will take on Winona State Sunday (November 24).  Game time is set for 4 p.m. (ET).
