Men's Basketball Falls At Grand Valley State 94-71

The Northwood University men's basketball team dropped a 94-71 contest at Grand Valley State Saturday night (February 15).

Northwood falls to 16-11 overall, 12-7 in the GLIAC with the loss. GVSU improves to 16-7 overall, 12-7 in the GLIAC.

The Timberwolves connected on a 3-pointer to open the scoring, but that would be the lone lead of the night for Northwood. The Lakers dominated the rest of the half, leading by as many as 18 before settling for a 51-35 advantage at the break. Grand Valley State made 51.5 percent from the floor (17-33) while Northwood made just 33.3 percent (10-30).

NU got with 13 at 53-40 early in the second half, but the Lakers responded with an 11-3 run to get their advantage back up to 21. Northwood got no closer than 19 points the rest of the way and trailed by as many as 29 points.

The highlight of the night was senior Darvin Ham (Saginaw, Mich./Bridgeport) reaching the 1,000 point mark for his career. He finished with eight points on the night, giving him exactly 1,000 for his career.

Wes Wilcox (Roselle, Ill./Harper) led Northwood with 17 points and seven rebounds. Dylan Langkabel (Morristown, Ind.) added 15 points.

Northwood will host Michigan Tech Thursday night (February 20). Game time is set for 8 p.m.
