The Northwood University men's basketball team falls to Michigan Tech 73-44 Thursday evening (February 20).
The Timberwolves are now 16-12 overall, 12-8 in the GLIAC. The Huskies improve to 19-5 on the year, 15-5 in the GLIAC.
The score was tied at 10-10 with 12:47 remaining when Michigan Tech took over. MTU went on a 32-8 run to take a 42-18 lead into the locker room. The Huskies converted on 6-12 three-pointers, for 50 percent. Michigan Tech shot 58.1 percent from the floor on 18-31 attempts. The Huskies held a 20-8 advantage in the paint for the opening period.
MTU opened the second half with an 11-0 run, extending their lead to 53-18 at the 16:31 mark. The Huskies would lead by as many as 36 points (60-24 at 11:54) in the closing period. For the game, Northwood shot 24.6 percent from the floor on 14-57 shooting. MTU recorded 50.8 percent from the floor (32-63). The Huskies out-rebounded the Timberwolves 44-35 and held the advantage in the point with 40 points to 14 of the Timberwolves.
Dylan Langkabel (Morristown, Ind.) led the Timberwolves with 12 points. Darvin Ham (Saginaw, Mich. / Bridgeport) added 10 points.
Northwood continues Think Pink Week against Northern Michigan on Saturday (February 22). Tip is scheduled for 8 p.m. The Timberwolves will be honoring their seniors prior to the game and will be recognizing local military throughout the night.
