GAME STORY

  • It was the defenses that were the story of the start of the game. Ten minutes into the contest, the score was 8-8 with the two teams combining to go 4-27 from the floor (14.8 percent).
  • Northwood led 19-17 with under four minutes remaining in the first when the Timberwolves got hot. After going 8-25 from the floor and 0-8 from 3-point range in the opening 16 minutes, Northwood went 6-9 from the floor and 4-5 from 3-point range in the final 3:48 of the half.
  • That shooting allowed the Timberwolves to finish the half on a 16-6 run to make the score 35-23 at the break.
  • Northwood scored the first two points of the second half to go up 37-23, but it was all Warriors the rest of the way.
  • WSU went on a 19-2 run to turn a 14-point deficit into a 42-39 Warrior lead.
  • Wayne State pushed their lead to 61-51 with 6:39 remaining.
  • Northwood got back within five at 68-63 with 45 seconds remaining, but WSU scored six of the final nine points to earn the 74-66 win.
