Men's Golf Ties For 10th At NCAA Regional #1

The Northwood University men's golf team tied for 10th place out of 24 teams at the first NCAA Regional of the season Monday afternoon (October 1).

The two-day, 36-hole event was held at the Brighton Dale Links and was hosted by Wisconsin-Parkside. The teams played the blue (par 72 – 6,977 yards) and the white (par 72 – 6,687 yards) courses at the event.

Northwood shot team scores of 304 and 298 to finish at 602 overall. Wayne State was the overall winner at 576, followed by Tiffin (590) and Grand Valley State (592).

Leading the way for the Timberwolves was freshman Matt Benson (Grand Ledge, Mich.). He carded rounds of 73 and 74 to finish at 147 overall, good for a tie for 11th overall. Gilles Medale (Valence D'Agen, France) was one stroke behind Benson at 148 (77-71). A total of 120 players competed in the event.

Northwood will return to action at the GLIAC Championship October 14-16).
