Men's Golf Wins Cardinal Fall Invitational
The Northwood University men's golf team claimed a one-shot win at the Cardinal Fall Invitational Saturday and Sunday (September 14-15).
The two-day, 36-hole event was held at the Bay City Country Club and the Currie West Golf Club. Both courses played as with a par of 72.
Northwood beat Saginaw Valley State by a single shot – 591-592. The Timberwolves held a three-shot lead (292-295) after round one. St. Clair County C.C. also competed at the event, shooting a two-round total of 663 (336-327).
Three Timberwolves placed in the top-five in the event, led by Matt Benson (Grand Ledge, Mich.). He carded matching scores of 73 to finish with a two-over par total of 146. Gilles Medale (Valence D'Agen, France) was third at 147 (71-76), while Bruce Eccleton (Saginaw, Mich./Mott CC) tied for fifth at 150 (76-74).
Northwood will travel to the GLIAC North Tournament September 21-22.
