GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • Northwood wasted little time setting the tone in the first quarter. After an early defensive stand, Andrew Rogers opened the scoring at the 11:47 mark off an assist from Dylan Ayotte.
  • The Timberwolves continued to pour it on, as Gabe Schmoll found the net at 9:38 before Rogers added his second of the quarter to make it 3-0. Denny Wandrei and Drew Lockwood scored just 51 seconds apart midway through the period, pushing the lead to 5-0.
  • Thomas More got on the board with 3:23 remaining in the first, but Northwood answered late once again. MacKennan Tognetti converted off a feed from Rogers at 1:09, and Daniel Copple scored with just three seconds left in the quarter to give NU a commanding 7-1 lead after one.
  • The Timberwolves extended the run early in the second. Luke Ueland struck at 13:20, followed by an unassisted goal from Ayotte and Rogers' third of the day, stretching the advantage to 10-1 at the 10:10 mark.
  • Thomas More mounted a late push before halftime, scoring three times in the final 7:38 to cut the deficit to 10-4. Northwood's defense held firm the rest of the half, including multiple extra-man kills, to carry the six-goal lead into the break.
  • Northwood put the game away in dominant fashion after halftime, outscoring Thomas More 8-1 over the final two quarters to secure an 18-5 road victory Saturday afternoon.
  • The Timberwolves opened the third quarter with a flurry, as Schmoll scored just 37 seconds in to halt any Saints momentum. Ryder Mulvey followed with back-to-back unassisted goals, while Lockwood and Rogers each added tallies as Northwood rattled off six unanswered goals in the period. A man-up finish from Tognetti capped the scoring late in the third, giving NU a commanding 16-4 advantage heading into the final frame.
  • Northwood continued to control play in the fourth quarter. Jacob Pylak opened the scoring off an assist from Rogers, before Mulvey struck again midway through the period to complete his hat trick and push the lead to 18-4. Thomas More added a late goal, but the outcome was long decided.
  • In goal, Easton Beukema turned in a strong performance, stopping 14 shots to anchor a Timberwolves defense that held Thomas More scoreless in the third quarter and shut down all five Saints extra-man opportunities.
