The Northwood University men's soccer team earned a 3-0 win over UM-Dearborn Sunday afternoon (October 14).
The Timberwolves are now 7-4-1 overall. The Wolves fall to 1-10 on the season.
Northwood netted the lone goal of the first half in the 40th minute. The Timberwolves drew a foul just outside the box. Mitchell Brent (Milton Keynes, England) took the free kick and found the back of the net, putting Northwood up 1-0 at the break. Northwood held an 8-2 advantage in shots in the opening half.
Brent scored his second goal of the day on a near instant replay of his first goal in the 61st minute. He netted a free kick from just outside the box at 60:43 to make the score 2-0.
Northwood rounded out the scoring in the 66th minute. Freshman Spencer Sandow (Midland, Mich.) netted his second goal of the season off a good feed from Nick Castanos (Grand Blanc, Mich.) at the 65:03 mark.
For the game, Northwood finished with a 17-4 advantage in shots. The Timberwolves also held at 9-3 edge in corner kicks. Freshman keeper David Perez (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage) made one save to earn a clean sheet.
Northwood will travel to rival Saginaw Valley State Friday afternoon (October 19). Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
