Luke Ruff, Sam Nair Earn All-Region Honors

The Northwood University men's soccer team placed a pair of student-athletes on two separate All-Region teams.

Senior defender Luke Ruff (Bradford City, England/Delta College) was named First Team All-Midwest Region by both Daktronics and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.  Sam Nair (London, England/Nower Hill) was named to the Second Team All-Region on both lists as well

The Daktronics list was voted on by Sports Information Directors from around the Region, while the NSCAA list was handled by coaches.

Ruff, the 2012 GLIAC Defensive Player of the Year, has been one of the top defenders in the GLIAC over his entire three-year career for the Timberwolves. He made 41 appearances in a Northwood uniform, earning the starting nod in every appearance. Ruff earned All-GLIAC honors all three seasons of his career. He also netted his first career goal this season off a set piece against Saginaw Valley State. Ruff earned First Team All-Region honors in each of the last two seasons at Northwood.

Nair immediately became one of the top offensive players in the GLIAC during his freshman season for the Timberwolves. The 2012 GLIAC Freshman of the Year, Nair finished the season leading the team and ranking second in the GLIAC with 10 goals. His .67 goals per game was second in the conference and ranked him 33rd in all of NCAA Division II. Nair also ranked among the national leaders in points per game, total points and total goals. Nair joined Keith Lough (2008) as the only two men in program history to earn GLIAC Freshman of the Year honors.
