TIFFIN, OHIO - The Northwood University No. 24 men's soccer team falls to No. 14 Tiffin 2-0 on Sunday afternoon (September 28).
The Timberwolves are now 4-2-1 on the season, 2-2-1 in the GLIAC. The Dragons improve to 5-1-1 on the year, 4-1 in the GLIAC.
Despite recording a total of 13 shots between the two teams in the opening half, the match remained scoreless through halftime. Northwood registered three corner kicks, to Tiffin's two. The Dragons took advantage of their five shots in the second half, capitalizing on two for a 2-0 victory.
For the game, NU held an advantage in shots (15-12) and corner kicks (5-4). It was an extremely physical match with a total of 27 fouls and six yellow cards. Senior Michael Ankoviak (West Bloomfield, Mich. / Walled Lake Northern) registered three shots with two of which on goal. Junior Keaton Levock (Clinton Twp., Mich. / Chippewa Valley) tallied four shots, while junior James DeCosemo (Stokesley, England) and senior Jack Smith (Milnthorpe, England) each added a shot on goal.
