Men's Soccer Defeats Walsh 5-0

MIDLAND, MICH. - The Northwood University men's soccer team topped Walsh 5-0 on Friday afternoon (October 10).

The Timberwolves are now 7-2-1 on the year, 5-2-1 in the GLIAC. The Cavaliers fall to 4-6 overall, 2-6 in the GLIAC.

NU got on the board early, netting two quick goals at 7:40 and 8:41. Junior Adam Thomas (High Wycombe, England / John Hampden) registered his first goal of the season on a pass from Jack Smith (Milnthorpe, England). Shortly later, Gino Pasquali (Shelby Twp., Mich. / Eisenhower) dribbled through multiple defenders in the 18-yard box before dropping a pass back to junior Keaton Levock (Clinton Twp., Mich. / Chippewa Valley) in front of an empty goal. Levock recorded his fourth goal of the season.

The Timberwolves came out strong again in the start of the second half, tallying the third goal of the game at 47:40. Thomas finished his second goal of the game on a pass from Pasquali that went through the keeper's legs before hitting the back of the net. Junior Andrew Nugent (Ipswich, England) added Northwood's fourth goal at 61:22, beating the keeper on the far post after taking the ball away from a defender. NU's final goal came from junior Josh Sawyer (Lansing, Mich. / Haslett) just 0:40 after entering the game. That was Sawyer's first goal of his career, as he beat the keeper from about ten yards out.

For the match, the Timberwolves finished with 18 shots. Thomas registered two goals on three shots, while Pasquali added two assists. Nugent recorded a goal on three shots. Keaton Levock (Clinton Twp., Mich. / Niagara) also recorded four shots in the contest.
