2014 Capital One Academic All-America Teams
The Northwood University junior goalkeeper Johannes Sterobo (Odense, Denmark / Tornbjerg) earned a spot on the 2014 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Men's Soccer Third Team.
CoSIDA members in each of the eight geographic districts selected this year's All-District teams earlier in the month. After being named First-team Academic All-District ® Sterobo advanced to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where he was selected as a third-team honoree. These honorees are recognized as the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Sterobo is an International Business major with a 3.98 GPA as a junior. He started every game for the last two seasons for the Timberwolves and finished this year with a 14-4-1 (10-3-1 GLIAC) record. He was two-time GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week (Oct. 14, Oct. 28) and owns the Northwood school record for career goals against average (1.12) and career shutouts (16). Sterobo also holds the NU record for wins in a season (14) and a career (28), as well as the two highest totals for shutouts in a season (nine, five) at NU. He set the Northwood record for goals against average this season (0.93) and has led NU to being one of the top teams in the GLIAC and the Midwest Region.
The Timberwolves finished the season as the 2014 GLIAC Tournament Champions and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in school history.
