Men's Soccer Announces Promotion Of Walker To Associate Head Coach

MIDLAND, MICH. - Northwood men's soccer announced the promotion of current Assistant Coach Steve Walker to Associate Head Coach Monday (July 1). 

Walker is excited about his new title, he stated, "I'm very honored to continue my role at Northwood with the men's soccer team as the Associate Head Coach. I'd like to thank Jeff Curtis and Stevie Shard for this opportunity and their continued support during my time here.

Steve Walker joined the Northwood coaching staff as an assistant coach in the fall of 2019. During his time with the Timberwolves, Walker has worked with ten First Team All-Conference players and six Second Team All-Conference players, including an Offensive Player of the Year (2011), a Defensive Player of the Year (2012), and a Freshman of the Year (2011).

During his first term with the Timberwolves, he helped guide them to their first-ever NCAA tournament appearance (2011).

Originally from Manchester, England, Walker has over 27 years of coaching experience in the United States. In addition to his role at Northwood, he has worked with a variety of youth soccer clubs in the state of Michigan. More recently, Walker has taken over the U17 & U19 MLS Next teams at Vardar Soccer Club. He also is the head coach of Oakland County FC which plays during the summer months in the USL2 league.

Walker also played at the semi-professional level in England, spending time with Leigh RMI and Radcliffe Borough in the Conference North division.
