RECAP: Men's Soccer ended the road slate to start 2025 with a matchup with Walsh Saturday afternoon (September 20). The Timberwolves took a 2-1 lead early in the second half, but a response from the Cavaliers gave them the 2-2 draw in the end.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Walsh struck first in the 15', finishing a chance to put the Cavaliers ahead 1–0.
- Northwood weathered early pressure behind goalkeeper Albie Perez, who tallied six first-half saves to keep the Timberwolves within striking distance.
- Northwood broke through in the 41', as Brendan Gerard converted to tie the game at 1–1 heading into halftime. Gerard's first shot was deflected off the keeper, but his subsequent header punched it into the left corner.
- Northwood carried that momentum into the second half. Just 29 seconds after the restart, Jake Funka capitalized on a chance to give the Timberwolves a 2–1 lead. Funka beat the defender on the inside hip near the right post to score into the lower right corner.
- Walsh responded in the 63', evening the match 2–2.
- The Timberwolves pressed for a late winner, generating three corner kicks and multiple shots in the final 10 minutes. Patrick Hamilton and Adriel Sanchez each tested the Walsh keeper, but Northwood came up empty as the match ended in a 2–2 draw.
