Steve Walker rejoined the Northwood University men’s soccer coaching staff in the fall of 2019 as an assistant coach and was elevated to Associate Head Coach in the summer of 2024. This marks his second stint with the Timberwolves, having previously served as an assistant coach from 2010–2012.

Over his time at Northwood, Walker has been instrumental in player development and team success. He has coached 10 First Team All-Conference selections and six Second Team All-Conference honorees. His mentorship contributed to major conference accolades, including an Offensive Player of the Year (2011), Defensive Player of the Year (2012), and Freshman of the Year (2011). Walker also played a key role in guiding the Timberwolves to their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2011.

A native of Manchester, England, Walker brings more than 27 years of coaching experience in the United States. He has been involved in the development of countless young players through his work with various youth soccer clubs across Michigan. Currently, he leads the U17 and U19 MLS NEXT teams at Vardar Soccer Club, one of the top youth programs in the Midwest. He also serves as head coach of Oakland County FC, a USL League Two team that competes during the summer months.

Walker’s playing background includes time in the Conference North Division in England, where he played at the semi-professional level with Leigh RMI and Radcliffe Borough.
