Men's Tennis Falls To Northern Kentucky 5-4
The No. 13 Northwood University men's tennis team saw its 2012 season come to an end with a 5-4 loss to Northern Kentucky Sunday (April 29)
Northwood's season comes to an end with a 14-2 overall record. Northern Kentucky improves to 16-6 with the victory.
Northern Kentucky got off to a fast start in doubles, winning the No. 3 match 8-0. But Northwood responded with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 position to take a 2-1 lead heading into singles.
NKU got another quick victory to start singles, winning 6-0, 6-1 to even the score 2-2. Northwood's Teddy Mebounou put Northwood back on top 3-2 with his win at No. 1 singles, his second victory of the day. The two teams then exchanged straight-set wins at the No. 5 and No. 3 positions, with Northwood's Marcus Oliveira claiming a 6-2, 7-5 victory at the third position. Northwood led 4-3 at that point, needing to win one of the final two matches on to advance. But the Norse came up with the wins down the stretch, claiming close victories at the No. 2 and No. 4 positions to advance.
