Men's Tennis Drops Tough 5-4 Match At Flagler
The Northwood University men's tennis team dropped its first match of the season Wednesday (March 13), falling 5-4 to Flagler.
The Timberwolves are now 5-1 on the season. Flagler improves to 3-6 with the win.
Northwood got off to a good start in doubles, winning the top-two matches to go up 2-1 heading into singles. The duos of Jean Menard/Florian Boggia and Marcus Oliveira/Lorenzo Montegiori earned wins. NU nearly made it 3-0 after doubles, but Flagler won the third flight match in a tiebreaker 9-8.
Northwood earned two quick, straight-set wins in singles to put the Timberwolves up 4-3 with two matches remaining. But the Saints claimed both of the final two matches, each of which went the full three sets. Menard and Konstantin Zhukov claimed wins in singles for the Timberwolves.
NU will take on Barry Friday afternoon (March 15). Match time is set for 3 p.m.
