Men's Tennis Earns 5-4 Win Over Previously Unbeaten Bluefield State
The Northwood University men's tennis team improved to 5-0 on the season with a hard-fought 5-4 win over Bluefield State Tuesday night (March 12).
Bluefield State suffered its first loss of the season in the match, falling to 5-1 overall.
BSC got off to the early lead, winning at the No. 2 and No.3 doubles positions to go up 2-1 heading into singles. Jean Menard and Florian Boggia earned a 9-7 win at the No. 1 doubles position to get the Timberwolves on the board.
Singles proved to be extremely close. Lorenzo Montegiorgi earned a straight-sets win at the No. 4 positions, but all five of the other singles matches went the full five sets. Northwood earned the comeback win by winning the top four singles matches, thanks to Montegiorgi, Menard, Boggia and Marcus Oliveira.
Northwood will take on Flagler Wednesday afternoon (March 13). Match time is set for 2:30 p.m.
