Austin Woody Signs Letter Of Intent With Northwood Men's Tennis

The Northwood University men's tennis team has announced the signing of Austin Woody (Midland, Mich./Dow) to a National Letter of Intent.

"We are very excited to bring Austin to Northwood for next season," said Northwood head coach Zane Colestock. "He's a great young man and will be an excellent addition to our program."

Woody put together one of the finest high school tennis careers in the history of the state of Michigan.  He set a state record by recording 80 consecutive wins in singles, breaking the old record of former professional Aaron Krickstein from 30 years ago.  Woody won a pair of individual state titles as well as finishing runner up in doubles twice.  A three-time All-State honoree, Woody was a part of four state championship teams.  Over his career, Woody posted a 146-10 record combined in singles and doubles.

"Austin had a lot of great individual accomplishments in his high school career, but the thing that is great about him is that he is all about the team," said Colestock.  "Above everything else, he wanted his team to succeed and win championships.  And that's what we are about at Northwood.  He will fit in extremely well here."

Northwood recently claimed its 19th consecutive GLIAC Championship.  The Timberwolves will compete in the GLIAC Tournament Friday-Sunday (April 19-21).
