Men's Tennis Opens Season With 6-3 Win Over Davenport
The Northwood University men's tennis team opened their season with a 6-3 win at Davenport Saturday afternoon (February 8).
Davenport falls to 5-2 on the season with the loss.
Northwood took the first point of the day with an 8-4 victory at No. 1 doubles. Davenport then earned a pair of wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles positions, winning both matches in tiebreakers to take a 2-1 lead heading into singles.
The Timberwolves were the better team in singles, taking five of the six matches. Northwood earned victories at the No. 2-5 positions to earn the overall victory.
Newcomers Saligh Gilmudinov, Felipe Crema Bastistella and Austin Woody all earned their first career wins for the Timberwolves.
Northwood will travel to Ohio Dominican March 8. Match time is set for 10 a.m.
